Hello! I am Annie Thibault, a certified consultant in pediatric sleep and Registered Nurse! I live in beautiful Quebec City. I love the outdoors, photography and baking. My boyfriend and I always have a thousand projects on the go, giving us the reputation of those who never stop!
We have two beautiful little girls, Charlie, and Magalie with whom we share wonderful moments on trips to our chalet, camping, and all our other adventures! We love this pace of life and with two children along with us, there is never a dull moment.
When I became a mother, my nursing training and practice gave me great confidence in the thought of adapting quickly into motherhood. Once she arrived, however, everything turning upside down, I was not prepared at all. The constant fear of not being able to adequately meet my daughter’s needs while managing the lack of sleep that I was accumulating quickly, felt overwhelming.
With Charlie, I quickly realized that I would not have all the answers to my questions. She only slept 6-7 hours a day and cried constantly. I realized that when we are in sleep deprivation that we quickly see the limits of our patience as well as our ability to manage our emotions. After several desperate medical consultations to find the problem(s) and several attempts to resolve it/them, I decided to read and learn about pediatric sleep solutions.
I realized that she might have a sleep debt, which would answer many of my questions. Several notions have helped me a lot to understand my daughter’s sleep needs. So here I am in a new challenge: now, how can I fix the sleep debt?
I consulted many companies on sleep training with which I didn’t achieve the expected results because they didn’t meet my values or expectations. With a lot of hard work, reading, and planning I took what I had learned and applied it to my daughters sleep and finally we had resolved the problem.
Since she was three and a half months old when we worked to resolve her sleep problems, our little Charlie has been sleeping all night long and loves going to bed. Obviously, our work is not perfect and does not stop there, children develop so fast and it can be hard to keep up with the changes and demands. We are constantly adapting and learning.
What I found extraordinary is that we (as parents) are very ill-equipped and unprepared for sleep skills or hygiene when the time comes to welcome our little treasure in this world. Being better equipped could help many families adequately meet the needs of their little ones from birth and avoid sleep debt and the stress it puts on parenting.
A new passion has been developed in me: understanding pediatric sleep in all its forms. That’s when I heard about “A Strong Beginning” from a friend. A little research later, I quickly realized how its sleep values are exactly the same as mine. With certified training, Ashley Lohse the founder of Strong Beginnings welcomes me as part of the team to help families struggling with a lack of sleep, which deprives them of their energy and morale to enjoy this beautiful period of life.
Our amazing team handles all areas of parenting with humility and compassion it values quality care for all its clients. Helping parents in this phase of their lives allows me to join my strongest passions and values, my greatest satisfaction is to see all these small victories for parents, now better equipped to accompany their little loves into a peaceful night’s sleep.
